Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between sample and population standard deviation?
The sample version divides by n − 1 and is used when your data is a sample of a larger group. The population version divides by n and is used when you have every value.
How is the median calculated?
Sort the values and take the middle one. With an even number of values, take the average of the two middle values.
Is it free?
Yes. All tools are free, with no sign-up and no limits.
Is my data stored or sent?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
Are the results exact?
Fractions, bases and GCD/LCM use exact integer arithmetic. Statistics use standard formulas on decimal numbers.
